Khyentse Wangchug Rinpoche (钦则旺邱上师)
Biography
Laurence Carroll Brahm was born in China on July 30, 2001 and was recognized by H.E. Beru Khyentse Rinpoche in September 2004 as the reincarnation of Venerable DaXiong. Rinpoche give him the Tibetan name Khyentse Wangchug when he took refuge with H.E. Beru Khyentse Rinpoche.
When Khyentse Wangchug Rinpoche was young he liked to play with the Vajra bell and dorje that his father used for his daily practice. Once he saw a carpet depicting the Potala Palace in his home in which he pointed to the top red tier and explained that it was "Buddha's Office". Then he borrowed his father's meditation mat and summoned his parents, asked them to sit down and he crossed his legs and put his palms together and spoke about living in Tibet. He can recite all the Tibetan mantras that his father knew. He has always enjoyed visiting Vajrayana places of worship and would prostrate in front of Buddha.
Previously, H.E. Beru Khyentse Rinpoche had a vision and a dream of both Venerable DaXiong and Khyentse Wangchug Rinpoche. In this dream, Rinpoche performed a hair cutting ceremony for a young boy who is sitting on a throne. This dream was clear and full of joy.
In 2005, H.E. Beru Khyentse Rinpoche met Laurence Carroll Brahm during his trip to Beijing. Rinpoche confirmed that this boy is the reincarnation of the late Venerable DaXiong. They felt very joyful during this meeting and also a special closeness. The young boy immediately sat beside him and he began to do recitation of Kalachakra, Chenrezig and Manjushri mantra.
In June 2005, H.E. Beru Khyentse Rinpoche performed the hair-cutting ceremony at the young tulku’s father private shrine located near the Great Wall of China. He was given the Dharma name Khyentse Wangchug. H.E. Beru Khyentse Rinpoche also suggested to his parents that an Enthronement Ceremony be performed in Singapore for him as there were many close disciples of Venerable DaXiong. His parents accepted it.
Khyentse Wangchug Rinpoche will embark on a modern education and also study Buddhism so as to benefit all sentient beings.
